| News and Rumors 7-10-09 “Ultimate Wrestling’s First Son”, TA Jones has been earning the respect of everyone who lays eyes on him. Whether he’s wrestling in his home base of Pensacola or traveling the surrounding areas, Jones is “earning his stripes”. TA Jones started in Ultimate as a tag team member of ‘Armed Forces’ with The Devil Dog. The two didn’t work out as they were quickly beaten by the veteran tag team of Cruze and Maze, New Era, in the shortest tag team match in UW history. Just 2:34 after the opening bell, The Devil Dog was pinned after a vicious double hip toss. Jones has tried his luck with many tag team partners, going after ‘The Ultimate Legends’ on a few occasions. He teamed with former “Team Angle” member, Jason Sugarman, Wade Garrett, and Cameron Thomas, the teams coming up short each time. Jones finally set the goal for 2009 to be a singles competitor. Jones has not had success in winning gold, however he has pushed a number of main event Ultimate Wrestlers ‘to the limit’. Heavyweight Champion Nick Virtue said that Jones gave him the most physically demanding straight match he’s had in years. Former Heavyweight Champion Joe Gibson has an average match length of 8 minutes and 47 seconds. It took him 14 minutes and 12 seconds to beat Jones in Milton. As of right now, TA Jones has a non title match against Carlos D’Angelo. You won’t want to miss TA Jones on July 18th in Pensacola, as he is quickly becoming one of the most respected wrestlers on the roster. Deathrow is one big, mean, scary individual. Friends and peers of Joe Gibson questioned his motives when he “stepped up” to Deathrow on May 2nd in Milton, FL. Deathrow had been destroying opponents month after month, claiming no one could stop him; “Brutal” Joe couldn’t take any more and answered the call. Deathrow had just laid out most of the Ultimate Wrestling Training Academy students and claimed they were nothing. Joe took a bit of offense to that statement, as Joe is one of the trainers at the Ultimate Wrestling Academy. Joe kept quiet and let the student’s “pay their dues” at first, but he could only take so much. This is a huge move on Joe’s part, as he has yet to fight anybody with the size or reputation of Deathrow. A fired up Joe Gibson had some very intense words for Deathrow, while Deathrow backed off, laughing at Joe. Was Deathrow not impressed with “Brutal” Joe or could we maybe see a chink in the armor of Deathrow? Could Deathrow be intimidated by the Former X- Factor and Heavyweight Champion? See the roof blow off the American Legion Post 33 on July 18th when these two huge men square off for the first time ever. News and Rumors is very sad to report that “The Archangel” Michael Thrash has to pull out of his UW dates for the next few months. While training for his match with Turbo Ted, Thrash suffered an injury that required immediate surgery. Thrash is at home resting and will be back in action in 8 to 10 weeks. Thrash was in the middle of an amazing winning streak with his new style that left opponents knocked out cold left and right. Thrash says when he comes back, he’ll be better than ever and is coming for anybody with gold around their waste. With Mike Thrash out of action, the Number #1 contender match for the X-Factor belt is now up in the air. The rumor flying around is that the singles match between Michael Patrick and Marcus Gibbs will now be the #1 Contender’s match for the X-Factor belt. Gibbs and Patrick both put on tremendous efforts in Milton, and may be rewarded with a shot for the title. “The Bruiserweight” Maze is one of the most hated men on the Ultimate Wrestling roster. Maze won the Ultimate Wrestling Cruiserweight title back in April, and doesn’t plan on losing it anytime soon. “Nobody on the Gulf Coast is going to take this belt from me. Hell, nobody in the country is going to take this belt from me.” Maze said during a phone interview. “I’m the first ever two time singles champion in Ultimate Wrestling history. There is a lot of up and coming cruiserweight talent in the area. Guys like Doug Pitt, Brian Caige, and Marcus Gibbs. They are missing one thing though. That’s the Cruiserweight belt. That’s staying with me. I keep hearing rumors of some sort of Multi-Man Match with contendership ramifications. The only thing I know is that nobody has earned a shot at my belt. Show up on July 18th to see what happens. I know I’ll be there. I also know how much the fans of UW love me.” Quick News and Rumors UW is considering holding a tag tournament in the fall to determine new Tag Team Champions as Bobby Doll and Robert Gibson lost the titles on May 2nd in Milton, ending more than a year of ultimate tyranny. The current rumor says 16 wrestlers are competing. No word yet on who may be involved. Cameron Frost has made an official statement for Nick Virtue regarding the Heavyweight Title match happening on July 18th. Virtue is rumored to respond via YouTube in the coming days. Bobby Doll has made an official statement via UltimateWrestling.org regarding his plans on July 18th. Doll said a lot, but also said very little. News and Rumors contacted Uncle Jim to see what Bobby Doll’s plans for Diana Drake-Hearse are, but Uncle Jim did not respond, which is very unusual for Jim. News and Rumors thinks that Uncle Jim doesn’t even know what Bobby is planning on doing if Robert Gibson’s contract is ripped up. Carlos D’Angelo has yet to make a statement regarding his match with “Mr. USA” TA Jones on July 18th. However, Carlos has said he’ll be having a special guest on “The Feature” at the American Legion Post 33. Michael Patrick, although not well received by fans, is a fresh new face in Ultimate Wrestling. Commissioner Kiel Sasso's contract ends on July 31st. No negotiations have reportedly been made by either side. Injury Report Mike Thrash is out for 8-10 weeks after surgery. “The Amish Assassin” Is out for the remainder of 2009 with a torn ACL. Nick Virtue is still recovering from a torn meniscus. Brian Caige is healing from a shoulder injury but won't miss any time. |
